Blueberry
From the Series See a Plant Grow!
In this book, beginning readers are introduced to the life cycle of a blueberry, showing and telling how it begins as a bud, blossoms into flowers, and then turns green and pink before growing into a ripe blueberry we can eat. High-frequency words and repetitive sentence patterns work together with strong visual references to support the earliest readers and create a fun first nonfiction reading experience.
Blueberry includes Tools for Teachers and Caregivers, a Let's Review! question and image, and introductory nonfiction features such as labels, a table of contents, words to know, and an index.
Blueberry is part of Jump!'s See a Plant Grow! series.

Booklist Review of Blueberry
Well designed for beginning readers and for reading aloud to younger children, books in the See a Plant Grow! series (8 titles) encourage viewers to look closely at changes in the plants shown.
This title opens with an illustrated list of six terms (berries, buds, closed, leaves, open, petals) used in the large-print text. With one brief sentence on each page, the following lines are featured on three connecting double-page spreads: “I see pink petals. / They are closed. / They turn white. / They open. / I see berries! / They are green.”
The clarity of the close-up, color photos make it easy to observe changes as the fruit matures, while the repeated use of simple words is helpful to rookie readers. A handsome series featuring plants that produce foods.
